What are
mitochondrial antibodies?

Mitochondrial antibodies, sometimes called anti-mitochondrial antibodies, form against mitochondria, a component of all cells in the body.

Why take a
mitochondrial antibodies test?

Our mitochondrial antibodies test is normally used if you have signs of liver damage. This test can help to diagnose primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) or to tell the difference between bile system-related cirrhosis and liver problems due to a blockage, viral hepatitis, or alcoholic cirrhosis.
