What is
insulin resistance?

Insulin resistance is when the body produces insulin but does not use it properly. Insulin is a hormone made in the beta cells of the pancreas. It helps the glucose in your blood enter your cells to be used as energy. Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body's cells become resistant to insulin, leaving high amounts of glucose circulating in the blood, which can damage your organs and raise your risk of cardiovascular disease. People who are overweight and obese, have high belly fat, and are generally inactive are at increased risk of developing insulin resistance.

from this test?

Our test will tell you whether your body is starting to have difficulties processing glucose and may give you an early indication that you are at risk of developing pre-diabetes or diabetes. What can affect

High temperatures can affect the stability and quality of an insulin sample. This means that an insulin sample must be taken at the laboratory that analyses the sample and cannot be taken as a home test.

How to prepare
for your test

Special Instructions

Prepare for your Insulin Resistance Blood Test by following these instructions. Do not eat for 12 hours prior to your test. Drink plenty of water, if you take medication then you are allowed to take it as you would normally. Do not take biotin supplements for two days before this test, discuss this with your doctor if it is prescribed.
